A look back on 2019

2019 was a pretty good year for Film Photography with lots of new products being released from multiple sources. Kosmo Foto released this article covering their film news of 2019 so go read that for a bit more detail but here are some of my personal favourite moments of 2019.

Tetenal saved from bankruptcy February
I didn’t realise this at the time but I am very glad they were saved as I have just started to use their C41 chemicals!

Lomography launches LomoChrome Metropolis
In July lomography announced the first new colour negative film for five years with the 100-400-ISO Metropolis. This was launched via Kickstarter and I received my 5 rolls of 35mm just before Christmas! I haven’t shot any yet but can’t wait to try it out.

Ilford Photo Silver Ticket
This is a Willy Wonka type deal where if you find the silver ticket you get a tour of the factory. Has anyone found one yet?

Harman release a reloadable Kentmere Camera
I have not bought one but I am happy it exists. I have a bunch of shitty point and shoots that my wife likes to use sometimes and I know it is only a matter of time before they all break. At which point I can just get one of these little things and she still gets to use a film camera that can be chucked in a bag.

Ilford released Ortho Plus in 35mm, 120 and Sheet Films.
I just love to have more options and this film looks interesting. I have not shot with it yet but have a roll of 120 in my fridge. Let me know if you have some and what you have shot with it.

Ektachrome in 120 format
I loved the results I had with the 35mm version of this film and although I have not bought a roll of the 120 film yet I will at some point in 2020 – probably the summer – and I will expect the results to be pretty beautiful.
